Alpha Alpha Lambda Chapter, also known as the Newark Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was founded in 1926. One of the original 14 members who chartered the chapter, well known for his work in the Newark community, was William Ashby, who also was instrumental in the founding of the Urban League of Essex County and the United Way of Essex West Hudson. Alpha Alpha Lambda of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. has been providing community services in and around Newark for 93 years. As a chapter, we have an opportunity to take a significant leap forward and expand the Fraternity’s impact in Newark through the creation of a Community Center. This center will serve as a hub for both our chapter, and the community to host our programs and events. Our community is in need and we are ready to serve. Learn more about our programs here.
Alpha Alpha Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity will be celebrating 100 years of service in Newark in 2026. Our goal is to build a community center before our centennial.
